The Ideas Don't Stop at the Door
Every workshop asks attendees the same set of questions. inventionINDEX is the live document those answers feed into: brainstorming from each city, consolidated over time into a submission on how to strengthen innovation culture and the incentives that support it.
Invention Cafe® values what people in the room actually think, so the discussion is captured rather than lost. Contributions from each workshop are added to a shared record, managed by the Swanson Reed team running the programme, and updated as it moves between cities.
Contributions matter because they surface recurring issues, practical barriers and policy improvements directly from businesses doing the research, not from a desk review. Each round follows the same path: workshop discussion, contribution review, themes consolidated across cities, a draft submission, then a final submission presented on behalf of the programme.
The aim is a single, well-evidenced submission: what is working in current R&D and innovation policy, what is getting in the way, and what a more productive settlement would look like for the businesses doing the research.
